Iain D Vasey, CEcD, MCRP
Chief Executive Officer
Iain Vasey, CEcD, MCRP, is a 30+ year veteran Economic Development Professional, having represented both communities and corporate clients in major site selection decisions and incentives negotiations. He has served as Chief Executive Officer for the Golden Triangle Development LINK since March 2026. He provides overall direction on GTR-Link operations including strategy, project management, business retention & expansions, financial operations, communications, investor relations and communications outreach. He reports to the GTR-Link Executive Committee and Board of Directors.
In his long career, Iain has led over $60 Billion in private capital investment projects, creating over 12,000 direct new jobs for communities he has served. In his prior role leading the Corpus Christi Regional EDC, he helped secure over $54 Billion in projects including a $10 Billion ExxonMobil-SABIC plastics facility (Business Facilities Award for Largest US Deal in 2018); a $3 Billion Steel Dynamics Campus ($2,500+ jobs); $8 Billion Cheniere LNG facility expansion, $500 Million Tesla Lithium processing facility; and a number of other projects.
During his time working in Oregon with the City of Klamath Falls, he led creation of a successful partnership with the US Air Force and Air National Guard, named Military Construction Cooperative Agreement Program, for the Air Force to outsource construction and financial management of a $500 Million program to convert an F-15 base to F-35 aircraft. Iain oversaw and led this program that has started to be emulated and rolled out nationally by the Pentagon. He was named the Honorary Wing Commander and awarded the Oregon National Guard Commendation for his leadership in these efforts.
In the past, he led the Baton Rouge Economic Development efforts, realizing over $8 Billion in new investment projects and over 3,000 direct jobs.
Of note, he led CCREDC through the arduous and prestigious IEDC Economic Development Accreditation award program; he taught IEDC certification classes; spoken at IEDC National Conference and several statewide conferences. He has written and published articles on Moneyball Economic Development and the Role of Ports in Economic Development. He has been sought for perspective and profiled by publications such as the New York Times, The Economist, Business Facilities Magazine, Southern Business & Development, and Site Selection Magazine.
His corporate real estate experience includes representing national and international Fortune 1000 companies in selecting sites and negotiating economic incentive packages while serving as a Vice President at Grubb & Ellis and Trammell Crow companies.
He holds a Master’s Degree in Regional Planning from Iowa State University and a Bachelor of Arts (with Honors) from University of Hull.
His partner Marion is an Attorney (working remotely with a prestigious Los Angeles law firm) specializing in Worker’s Compensation Defense, and an honors graduate of the University of Southern California. His daughter Ashlyn is an honors graduate of the University of San Francisco in Economics & Environmental Science, working for a national engineering firm specializing in environmental underwriting for corporate clients.
