August 8, 2023
Golden Triangle, Mississippi – The Golden Triangle Development LINK is set to embark on a significant transition as it prepares to relocate its offices to a more strategically positioned site.
As the economic development entity representing Lowndes, Clay, and Oktibbeha counties, the Golden Triangle Development LINK (referred to as the LINK) has unveiled plans to establish its new office at a central hub. To accomplish this, the LINK has forged a partnership with the Golden Triangle Regional Airport to construct its offices within the airport's premises.
Formerly known as the Columbus Lowndes Economic Development Agency (CLEDA), the LINK underwent a transformation in 2012 to adopt its present identity. Embracing a regional approach, the organization expanded its scope to cover Clay, Lowndes, and Oktibbeha Counties. With the inclusion of Oktibbeha County, marking its transition into a comprehensive three-county regional establishment, the LINK pledged to locate its offices at a central vantage point to ensure equitable accessibility for all three counties.
In response to the nationwide disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the LINK temporarily shifted its focus away from this objective, redirecting energies toward aiding existing industries and fostering community resilience throughout the crisis.
Now, the LINK is prepared to reinvigorate its commitment to establishing a centrally located headquarters that can facilitate uniform access for all three communities. Although this process has required substantial time and effort, the Golden Triangle Development LINK is poised to advance the initiative to construct a new facility.
Extensive deliberation and site assessment have guided the organization's decision-making process, culminating in the selection of the Golden Triangle Regional Airport property as the ideal site. This location serves as a focal point for the constituencies the organization represents and is jointly owned by the six governmental bodies that lend their support to the LINK.
The task of designing the new facility has been entrusted to Wier Boerner Allin Architecture, a choice made after careful consideration. With the finalization of the architectural blueprints anticipated by late Fall 2023, construction is projected to commence in the Spring of 2024.
Currently situated at 1102 Main Street in Columbus, Mississippi, the LINK is poised to embrace a new era of operational centrality and enhanced service provision.
