OCEDA Exercises Option on Initial Land Purchase in Industrial Park Development

Golden Triangle, Mississippi – The Oktibbeha County Economic Development Authority exercised its option yesterday to purchase a five-acre parcel of land in Starkville. The parcel was jointly-owned by three different sellers: Ms. Margaret Copeland, Daniels Investments, LLC, and LMK, LLC.

“We anticipate that we will be in front of the city and county during the month of July to outline steps for securing the remaining property and timing for the commencement of infrastructure construction [for the new park],” said Joe Max Higgins, CEO of the Golden Triangle Development LINK.

The land purchased today is the intended site for a new electrical power substation to be constructed by 4County Electric Power Association.  The new substation will principally serve the industrial park currently under development. When constructed, the approximately $4 million substation investment will result in 60 MW of power being available to serve the industrial park.

Starkville, Oktibbeha County and the GTR LINK are grateful to 4County and its commitment to construct this critical piece of infrastructure.

“Although this process has taken longer than we’ve experienced in the past,” said Higgins, “we’ve not lost sight of the job we were hired to do and our responsibility to Starkville and Oktibbeha County.”
