New Ammunition Contract Firing up Nammo Talley Operations in Lowndes County

Golden Triangle, Mississippi – Nammo Talley, Inc. has been awarded a contract for the production and delivery of ammunition for the Shoulder-Launched Multipurpose Assault Weapon system.

The contract was awarded for an indefinite delivery / indefinite quantity (ID/IQ) contract to produce ammunition for the Shoulder-launched Multipurpose Assault Weapon (SMAW) system. The five-year contract is estimated at more than $97 million with an estimated completion date of Sept. 10, 2020.

“Mississippi has a strong, growing presence in the defense sector, and Nammo Talley’s new contract further strengthens the state’s foothold in the industry,” Gov. Phil Bryant said. “I congratulate the Nammo Talley team on this opportunity and wish the company success as it fulfills this new contract.”

Production will be performed at the Nammo Talley, Mississippi Manufacturing Center in South Lowndes County where operations were suspended  in 2014 due to lack of contracts.  The SMAW contract will initially create 12 new jobs in 2016 and 2017.

Mississippi Development Authority provided assistance in support of the project for workforce training.
